2025 Final Release - 1.1 Stable
released this
2025-01-19 02:18:42 +00:00 | 0 commits to main since this releaseThis release has the pico shell as a new addition. It comes with some cool things to be expanded on in the future. I should've used it as a sub-module but oh well. I rushed myself (because I waited til last minute to do this).
Cycled most of the flags for the other challenges:
Easy - Entry:
Description: This flag should be the first flag you can find! You'll only see it right when the pico boots.
Hint: Try opening your serial monitor before you boot the device. This may be hard to do with putty.DaemonCTF{lift_off}
Easy - ch0 Communication:
Description: This flag is given after you solve the flashing lights transmission. Try writing out the long and short blinks.
Hint: Morse code.DaemonCTF{ilovemorsecode}
Easy - ch1 Buffer Overflow:
Description: You are given access to an ATM. You must figure out how to exploit it to withdraw more money than your balance says.
Hint: https://youtu.be/AD-iXWANggoDaemonCTF{moneymoneymoney}
Hard - ch2 Nuclear Reactor:
Description: You are to modify the nuclear reactor sensor readings you see on the terminal. This may or may not be difficult.
Hint: It wouldn't be fun with a hint!DaemonCTF{iceicebaby}
Medium - ch3 Communication Faster:
Description: .. .----. -- / ... --- .-. .-. -.-- / .. -. / .- -.. ...- .- -. -.-. .
Hint: Maybe use a device that can record the data faster than you can...DaemonCTF{wasitworthit?}
Medium - Do what it says:
Description: Obey the computer
Hint: Reset your device and pay attention!DaemonCTF{diving_deep}
Hard - Basic Encryption:

||DaemonCTF{moneybeflowing}||Here's the first release of the hardware CTF. I have one or two more challenges to write, sort of stuck on how I want those to look! I want to get something out for feedback/ideas. Keep in mind this is targeted for beginners that will likely struggling getting serial on it for the first hour.
Don't cheat with
stringsor ghidra ... yet... I want the binary to be released like halfway through the con. There will be another flag for those tools once (see if u can find it). I'm hoping to flash the picos before the con.This should work on any rp2040 based board with an LED on the same pin as the original rp2040 board.
